The hotel was nice size, and the meals were brilliant, I loved the good location close enough to the major bus line, and Union Square and Cable Car, City Hall area and Mr Tipple's Recording Studio.

In the situation in which the hotel finds itself in August 2018, it is by no means advisable. All the common areas were cancelled and closed to guests (in fact, with super-cute plastics). It's one thing to partially renovate a common area (which I had read about more than a year ago), but it's another thing to have the entire hotel (except for your room) cancelled for use. The impression was dire on arrival. After the pasture we struggled with, finding a crappy reception desk and everything else literally covered in plastic was a huge disappointment. The hotel was not only disappointing, but considering the services provided, enormously expensive, even considering the high prices of San Francisco. . If a hotel has completely cancelled ALL COMMON AREAS, you should warn guests when booking. And moderate its prices according to the services not provided to the clients. So my advice is to make sure that the renovations are completed before you book, because in the meantime, I think there are better options in San Francisco. . In any case, it will still be difficult for them to ensure this, because I contacted the hotel in relation to confirming the renovation of the room they would assign me, and in no case was I told that all the common areas would be closed for "precious plastics". On the contrary, the emphasis was on the complete renovation of all their rooms. So I reproach the total lack of transparency and information of the hotel. Breakfast was chintzy, crowded and rushed. The staff closed the room exactly at 9:30 and we were rushed and hassled. This is no way to treat guests. Also, very poor selection of food. For the first three days, for example, we only had bread and juice and condiments. For the price of the room the Opal can do much better. How about cereal and some hot food - eggs, bacon, etc.?
